Two become one

I've been looking through all my archery equipment of what I want and what I won't be using for some time and when I do get around to using it will it be any good.

This has got me doubting the choices I've made I originally bought the compound so I could learn the mechanics of the bow to help me on a county coach course (that never happened) I am also loathed to spend any real money on the bow. Like buying a sight I just don't want to spend 200 plus on a sight. I've bought a cheap sight and the canabilsed a carbon shibuya sight to make on good sight. Am I going down the right track with compound I do love it.

But recurve is part of who I am, when it goes right the bow feels like an extension of myself its hard giving up something you love for something else can I do both jack of all trades master of none. And in my mind I have so many questions about compound shooting but even less people locally to ask, I'm going to have to make my mind up soon.

  1. Phil you have to do what makes you happiest. Personally when I've heard you talk about shooting the compound you sound so much happier than when you used to talk about shooting your recurve. and you seem to be a lot less frustrated with archery now.
    Just my 2cents worth :)
    cheers

  2. Perhaps the love will come with time. I am enjoying shooting it. I just dont seem to get as excited about the equipment.

When I went to Quicks the other day and held the TF Apecs riser that got me really excited and I wanted one their and then.

Compound stuff just doesn't do that for me.

  3. Im now after the two weeks I ve had it getting that like an extention of me feeling exactly where I was before I got the inno. Id say to you you are an accomplished archer with a recurve and obviously as club records are falling to your compound now you cant be too bad with the compound. Keep to your original plan and shoot the comp for a specific period. There is nothing at all to stop you shooting the recurve and it may be good to keep the toe in the water and then it wont come as a big surprise if after your set time you want tho give the recurve another go. I know Michael Peart still takes out his compound and at my old club we had Jean Collins who was Ladies National Indoor Champ recurve on the Sat and Compound on the Sunday some time early in the 90s. Keep it going regards Jock
